Gentry Locke Consulting will host a public webinar April 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM EST on Virginia’ next $1 billion industry: legal cannabis. The webinar will provide one of the earliest looks at how Virginia’s legal cannabis market will be structured, regulated, and taxed under legislation passed by the 2021 General Assembly.
Under an amendment proposed by Governor Ralph Northam, it may be legal to grow small amounts of marijuana at home for personal use as soon as July 1. But legislation passed this year also establishes a regulatory framework for the cultivation, wholesaling, distribution, and retail sale of cannabis beginning in July of 2024. Over the next three years, Virginia will standup a new Cannabis Control Authority, establish regulations, and create a permitting process for cultivation, wholesaling, and the retail sale of cannabis.
Greg Habeeb, Esq., Matt Moran, and Patrice Lewis from Gentry Locke Consulting will present an overview of the current law and Virginia’s new regulatory framework for cannabis, the allocation of taxes, fees, and revenue, and the impact of cannabis legalization on the Commonwealth. The webinar will also cover licensure for cultivators, wholesalers, retailers, and product manufacturers.
“Virginia’s cannabis market is valued at $1.2 billion or more, and important decisions will be made over the next three years that determine what this market looks like for cultivators, wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers,” said Gentry Locke Consulting President Greg Habeeb, Esq. “We are excited to present on this exciting and evolving topic.”
Gentry Locke Consulting is fully committed to helping its clients prepare for the regulatory process and is ready to be active voice in the fair and equitable distribution of licenses.
